The instinct kicks in: fight the question, freeze up, or shut down. That's theological fight-or-flight, and it's more common than you might think.

Over 14 years of study, teaching, and conversation, one thread has run through everything here: most Christians were never taught how to read Scripture. They were taught what to believe about it.
